This is, indeed, the prototype [10547] of the Taylor Cub. The same photo is also in Juptner's Vol. 5 (for TC 455, Taylor E-2 Cub) on page 162 as Fig. 187, with the caption: "The prototype 'Cub' with 9 cyl. Salmson AD-9; C.G. Taylor on left, 'Bud' Havens on right." That information, coupled with what you have on your Taylor entry for the Taylor E-2, seems to tie it all together. Juptner lists Havens as the company pilot.
